bon voyage

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down. Both on the same day is overkill.

I don’t have any suitable music on Mexi-Melts shuffle. It is all happy sappy punk stuff that a girl would run around the lake to. And for the record let me just say that this new Mariah Carey cd is rubbish, even my low standards. nothing to help me have these blues.

I saw Z-ida off this morning. Sister and I stood arm-in-arm in the middle of the road waving at them while they drove away so they would feel extra bad for leaving us.
I felt like such a pastor too. I channeled my Grandpa Branham. I said ‘well, lets pray before you set out’ and as I did I felt my stomach come to my throat. Not like an “oh my lord I am going to join every one else in their tears’, but in an ‘oh wow that was my grandpa from 25 years ago’ way. I hope my prayer was a comfort to them as they go their way and I trust God was there to hear me. One thing is for sure they will be missed.
Last night was a good time with family and friends over. After most of you left us my hunger overcame me and I propositioned my hamburger place and it worked. Here is a picture. I love this because you can see from our faces the love at the table.
I feel kind of bad sometimes because I am not suitably emotional. I’ll miss my friends but if I cry I’ll do it later, alone, on the back porch, with my vices. That way I can say ‘oh smoke got in my eyes, it is nothing honey.’

that’s what friends are for.

by Daine on Jan.21, 2008, under Austin, BROWN, Church, Family, Friends, Life, fashion, money

just_say_no.jpgBeing a good friend means sometimes telling someone when they have broccoli in their teeth or that their hair looked better with out highlights or when they are being an asshole or narcissistic as a four year old. Guess what guys; I guess I am not the good friend I always thought I was. I can’t say no. That should have been my new years resolution. Stop being a freaking yes man all the time, and maybe I could grow some while I’m at it.
This has been my best Monday in years. I got a free lunch, it made me sick but it was free.

Pyros

by Daine on Aug.22, 2005, under Life, Tidbits

Wow I had like the busy weekend and now on Monday morning when usually everything falls asunder, nothing is going wrong. Nothing yet I am awake I feel rested and I have plenty of energy. What is my problem? I think I must still be running on fumes of adrenaline from the weekend. I had a bunch of the Youth kids over last night and I was once again the grill king. This time though I bought the match light charcoals instead of the old fashion kind. I still went with the big bottle of starter fluid because Jerry White the all time greatest Pyro is in many ways the father figure for all things dangerous and mechanically practical for me. So I cleaned up the grill as far as the old coals go and made sure that I had sufficient ventilation and presoaked my briquettes and dropped a match.

Boom I immediately had a great fire. And so I closed the lid and thought oh yeah I should scrape more crap off the grill with this wire brush deal. Mistake I opened the grill to get the backlash of the fire once again, but this time about burning my eyebrows off. That was wild. I still have my eyebrows but the hair on my arm next to my right wrist is all like short little stubble.
