maybe in 20/20 hindsight she should have went with this dress more often.

so i am so glad this is all over. Zach we can take down the banners now the quiet protest is over.

now i am have to worry about the Christmas tree and getting it up before the family comes for Thankschristmasing. i have like 20 other things i want to get done between know and then too i need to wash the house and the fence and stain and seal the fence. Get the Honda out of the garage and into the shop to get fixed and tagged and rolling. and get the Mini back, maybe buy a used Saab and give the Tank back to its owner and get Gus into the garage for an oil change and the lights on the house and i have 20 days to do all this in. OK it might not all get done. First things first. i wanna get something done to the fence. this week. Hear that babe? ok and i wanna stop drinking soda. except when i NEED it.

CHEERS!  and dont grieve to much, my dear republican friends, nothing is ever gonna really change, that is just the way it is somethings never change, (insert bruce hornsby piano riff) and it dont matter if we have a black man or an old man a chick, or a chick with a gun on the run in the big house we are supposed to pray for them just the same.

FAT part 2 / Thanksgiving

by Daine on Nov.21, 2007, under BROWN, Food, fashion

Well it is that time of year again. Josh my brother in law and closest confidant calls and says well it is snowing buckets here in IA and I turn green with envy. I haven’t seen snow except in pictures in what seems like for-e-ver. And I love snow. Not a chance we will ever see any here this year it seems. We actually all agreed that this past summer or Dry season was not bad. It rained. It did not kill us with its heat. My grass stayed a little bit green. But now that is supposed to be dropping off and getting cold it refuses to do so. Case in point I am wearing my Chaco’s to work today. chaco.jpgYeah I have sandals on. NOT COLD ENOUGH FOR NOVEMBER.

I am thinking about Josh right now because I just got one of his Christmas gifts in the mail. I love ordering stuff online! And then waiting for it to come in the mail! It is the anticipation. Like Thursday being my favorite day of the week.

Man so I skipped lunch today because I wanted to get out of here early. Well I ate just almonds at my desk. And I had a coke. I’d like to publicly apologize for eating unhealthily today. Let’s face it though I will probably have a few more unhealthy days between now and the next work week. O my weight loss is going now where I am fatter than ever and today it is really showing. I wore my favorite t-shirt and it is just a little bit on the snug side. I wore it anyway because of what it made me think of. I got this crazy hair up my butt last Christmas to go to Patagonia’s first surf shop in Cardiff by the sea, CA. it is right north of San Diego and since we were going there and I was driving I decided that is what I wanted to do. I went saw a shirt I liked and they did not have my size. Well actually I should have probably went with the extra large they had vs’ the Large that I had to call back a month later and pay for shipping on. ar11728199508785.jpg Cool place and if you are into atmospheres and cool places where you want to stand and drink in the wonder of a place that is a good area of the world to do so in. I would give my right nut to live there in a paid off house. Um yeah I know even a matched set aren’t going to buy me that.

So I am eating small portions the next couple of days and I swear I’ll stop when I am full not when I get tired of eating. Ok you two have a happy thanksgiving

Harvest Moon

by Daine on Sep.27, 2007, under Family, Life

Last night the harvest moon was so full and so bright I had to get up and turn the blinds the other way because the light streaming into my windows was so extremely bright.

I love the old farmer’s almanac website. It makes me want to live in the north east or at least the north.
Fall is my most favorite of all the seasons. I love the colors and the smells and cooking and what the time of year always represented for me as a kid growing up in Southwest MO.

The Ozark Mountains during this season hold an amazing array of colors. The trees are like a warm palate bouquet and the sky goes this most amazing color of blue. The grass may very well green up too just because it would feel left out being brown and dead up next to all the other amazing colors.

AutumnSchool starts back as well. And for me that meant that these college kids that would celebra-tize me in a way would soon all fill my parent’s home. My dad is an instructor in a small Christian college in Southern Mo. My mom (I am sorry meximelt) the best cook in the history of mankind and she seems to have a bent on all the things cooks like to cook in the fall. My favorite is a Carrot cake with a melty cream cheese icing. Not too sweet because I am her kid and I am hyper enough. And Pumpkin pie and pecan pie, fried potato’s and squash. Baked apple cake, also not very sweet with the butter and pinch of kosher salt sprinkled on the top for good measure.

Man oh man I am really feeling it now.

I love to walk out side and see the leaves that have fallen and think by raking these all into a pile I will have blisters BUT the fun I will have by jumping into them or my specialty riding my bike through them as if I were a stunt man, riding heroically through the smoke, Well worth the blisters. And when you are all damp around the temple from the running and the jumping you feel the cool breeze and you hope you don’t get a cold. So you run in and beg for some of the grown ups mulled cider!

When I grew up a smidge and had my drivers’ license I would do what my Grandpa Branham got me started doing; Going for a drive through the country side to see the beauty of nature. I would drive out t his grave and sit on the bench he had instead of a huge unusable monument. I’d sit there for a second or two and think wait I still have a living grandpa I want to spend as much time with as possible. And race the back roads to Papa Whites and soak up his company like a sponge. I am so hyper I make his blood pressure rise. Now that I am 30 I have learned to sit still and listen to stories but I think the sight of my car in his drive still kicks the blood pressure up a notch or two.

Now that I live a bazillion miles away from all of my family I want to see them more than ever. I want to throw my arm over their shoulders and beg for one more slice of pie, and one more game of washers or on more try to shoot cans on the hill across from the garden.

All of this talk has me for sure wanting t return for Thanksgiving as well as Christmas. So mom, when you read this please send me a picture of some fall foliage, and have a cup of hot cider for me. Oh and when you see Papa White next, probably at Church Sunday, give him a big tight hug and tell hi it is from me. And tell Grandmother she looks ravishing for me, and Grandma Branham. When you go this weekend to see her rub the bump on the back of her neck and say this is fro Dainer.

Oh and momma I love you too, and when I come home please promise that all the diets will be over. Lets cook good food this time ok? Like 20 years ago 1987! Like when I was 10!

Thanksgiving

by Daine on Nov.21, 2005, under Cars, Friends

Gobble gobble dee goo. The best part of Thanksgiving when you are stuck in Texas is that you can sing “Thanksgiving song” in your Adam Sandler voice and no body cares! It is truly wonderful!

And my surprise friend is coming to see us. That should be a ton of Fun! We are going to have Thanksgiving (as in the big meal) at my friend James’s pad. His mommy and daddy are going to be in town, and all the other flat mates are going north back to MO. I miss you all.

Oh check out the new toy! wish me luck selling this bastard car. I hate it! I am just kidding.
