watch this amazing footage shot in Honolulu on August 14, 1945. Greatest generation was also the coolest generation and they didn’t even know it.
Maybe that is one of the main reasons they were so cool.

Today is one of those days when I really do wish I were someone else.
I drove into to work today alone. I thought what it would be like to be in my 1969 Mercedes SL. Ill take mine in brown with powder blue leather. That would be cool.
Went to the Rehab center to have my shoulder and neck worked on; the office is in west lake. Just about undid all the good adjustment, gawking at a brand new Ferrari California. That would be cool.
A co-worker showed me how to see the insider trading for my company. Oh for that kind of financial freedom. That would be nice.
The matram of “thank you god for what I have been given” is harder said than it will be tomorrow.

I have always liked an old series Landy.

It helps that the godfather of all things American cool had one.
I’d take one like this right here.

Today marks 7 years of my official membership in this Club of Brown. If I can do it anyone can.
A couple months back I was assisting a coworker who spotted a photo of Jade on my desk. here’s how that went.
Oh who is this, a nice?
No that’s my little girl?
What your married?
Yes.
No!
Yes Sir I am married.
How long?
Almost Seven years!
Oh wow, yikes!
Yikes?
Yeah man, my past two marriages both broke up during that seventh year. It’s called the Seventh year itch.
OK, well thanks for the heads up I’ll watch out for the distracters.
Oh you’ll never see it coming. Does she work your wife?
Yeah.
What does she do?
She works at a law firm.
Screwed and Screwed, good God man I am sorry for you.
Well I’ll hope for the best.
Ha yeah that’s all you got. Good luck with that buddy.
* um whatever man *
So this is the #7 and unless it is like the #2 I’ll be fine. #2 was a hard year. Baby #2 is on the way and will replace “#2″ the year in the naming convention. He or she will be the redemption of the term “#2″. Oh but before that Jade turns #2 in mid August and sends it all back to hell.
We (Karina Jade and I) went to the San Antonio Zoo this weekend. That was fun. You know how you go somewhere once and you are like oh ok we are totally unprepared. Next time we will do all of this different. Carry water, and Gold bond Medicated powder, know Mom and Dad stuff no one wants to know but wish you had before heading out on a paved path to see some caged wild animals.
We actually spent most of this weekend in San Antonio. I had to get the MINI serviced and they gave us a loaner so we drove around the city exploring.
Karina and I love to do this or I do and she goes along with me pretty well. Every now and then she is like ok I saw and antique shop lets go look for Jadeite. Our friend Randy introduced us to a new place well have already been back to. The Los Cocos Fruiteria, holy cow that place knows what the heck to do with fruit.
Come down we’ll take you. WOW it is awesome.
We also went to a couple of the other missions on the Mission Trail in SA. You know the Alamo is only one of several missions you can see. The cool thing is it is the only one not still being used currently as a church. I have blogged about these churches before.

It was a great weekend over all and the start of a great year! Special thanks to all the friends of Brown that helped it go down.

Check out my last few songs of play list.
George Strait ‘if I know me’
Clay Walker ‘this woman this man’
Tracy Lawrence ‘if you loved me’
Diamond Rio ‘Love a little stronger’
Alan Jackson ‘tonight I climbed the wall’
Mark Collie ‘Something’s Gonna Change Her Mind’
Clint Black ‘burn one down’
Toby Keith ‘ wish I didn’t know now’
George Straight ‘ I can still make Cheyenne
Clint Black ‘loving blind’
Other stuff Sammy Kershaw, Neil McCoy Brooks and Dunn…
Then throw in P.M. Dawn’s ‘I’d die without you’ Random.
Wow, what a morning.
I hear these songs and I am instantly transported back in time say 1996-97. I miss Lara ‘the queen’ and ‘Shiny-white-Reeboks’ Josh, Lisa, my pretty girl friend with the cool dolphin sticker on her red Nissan, Billy bob Joe Jackson something something jr. aka Bill, Jake and his red truck,. You are all still my friends too, but you are all better looking now.
I remember fondly working at Pizza Hut, delivering people’s pizza before they could blink twice. I had the best car ever, my Nissan Sentra SE-R. Once I lent it to Bubba (Otis Lee for you outsiders) to take someone out to supper. I had to drive his old Chevy truck. I lost money that night I had to put gas in it twice. I remember thinking that the long horn sticker on the back made it look even cooler. Now that I live in Austin and everyone except me has a long horn on their car, not so much.
Funny thing is, as warm as my memories are of this period, I would not like to go back there and relive any of it.
Love you all

I believe in being myself and being real and letting the chips fall where they may. Not on the carpet because they can leave grease spots. I like individuality, but I’d still buy a silver Toyota and blend into the fray. Maybe even listen to the Fray. I’d say buy American but I wouldn’t. I moved away and the idea of disappearing and not disappointing was so refreshing. No one knows D.C. here and expects me to be him. HA jokes on me. The islands are looking more appealing all the time. that is not a threat. i don’t threaten. it is just an observation.
I hate feeling sick to my stomach over the thought i have let you down.

Have you ever been excited and then totally bummed about something at once?
My baby is getting big and that is so cool but at the same time wait She is getting big and not going to be the baby before too much longer.
The New U2 album comes out today . Sweet one of the best days of the month id not the quarter if not the year in my “Velveeta is still cheese and good cheese at that” opinion. SO my sister sends me the link of the album on Amazon for 3.99 and that is awesome, but what I really want is the deluxe version on itunes with the hour long movie! Hello 17.99 and not only is that the one I want but I want that one in a hard copy with all the packaging. I am such a dork I know but that is even going to cost me more. So for what I could have for 4 bucks I am going to have to part with 20 more to get the little extras. Drat.
My neck is out. I had a car crash and have suffered for it dearly. The Chiropractor is helping but it hurts to go but I feel better after I have been.
It also cost money now that I am supposed to get back on the settlement I hope that happens. And I went yesterday and got all fixed and then sneezed and it was all undone. I really had a big sneeze. Now I am in pain waiting till I can go get hurt and give hi more money so ill feel better and hopefully get that money back someday and this time I am going to try not to sneeze!
Last thing I can think of on this note.
Google maps is doing their street view pics. I am excited
I keep checking my neighbor hood to see if they are up yet.
And this morning guess what? We are there. Except it is from like a year ago and the plumber was at my house due to some leaks we were having. His big truck was in front of the house, and there are two houses next door to us since, no it has to be like almost a year and a half ago that there were taken there are houses all around us now. And I was home with the plumber in the middle of the day so both cars are in the drive way and the garage door is open and we look like real red necks and we are so not that would be every one else on the street. But you can see our place and Gus and Anderson and the disgrace of a dirty garage that I swear I have since cleaned all up and organized. Oh and Karina’s old 93 civic is in there dead waiting to go to place where dead Honda’s go too. Man and the trash can is out and not even been picked up yet.
I wish I could have them come back and redo the picture. STINK.
better luck next time

maybe in 20/20 hindsight she should have went with this dress more often.
so i am so glad this is all over. Zach we can take down the banners now the quiet protest is over.
now i am have to worry about the Christmas tree and getting it up before the family comes for Thankschristmasing. i have like 20 other things i want to get done between know and then too i need to wash the house and the fence and stain and seal the fence. Get the Honda out of the garage and into the shop to get fixed and tagged and rolling. and get the Mini back, maybe buy a used Saab and give the Tank back to its owner and get Gus into the garage for an oil change and the lights on the house and i have 20 days to do all this in. OK it might not all get done. First things first. i wanna get something done to the fence. this week. Hear that babe? ok and i wanna stop drinking soda. except when i NEED it.
CHEERS! and dont grieve to much, my dear republican friends, nothing is ever gonna really change, that is just the way it is somethings never change, (insert bruce hornsby piano riff) and it dont matter if we have a black man or an old man a chick, or a chick with a gun on the run in the big house we are supposed to pray for them just the same.

i woke up this morning and my arms were completely numb. The radio was playing npr’s semi annual beg-a-thon and my cell phone alarm was going off. I have this alarm sound that sounds like a Israeli bombing raid warning siren. I was having a tough time getting the alarm snoozed. i finally got up and when I stood my head felt as if it had been hit on both sides simultaneously with two 4 x 6’s. Like two major league baseball players batter batter batter … swing swang swung and connected at the same instant. I almost fell down it hurt so bad. It was 6.30 and time to get my butt out of bed but I could not. I dove back because once standing I realized I can’t feel my legs they are numb from my waist down; as are my arms.
That is how I have started this morning. Then I sat in traffic for a solid hour and arrived to work about and hour and a half later than what i like.
it is going to be a great Wednesday.
Little got her shots yesterday and although I was leaning away from giving her the shots altogether or at least until she is 5. So pray none of the horror stories people tell you about vaccinations pan here.
She did ok with the shot, just kind of fussy and wanting to be held. But hey from what I can tell that is most of the time. I know I would be! Have you seen her momma?

ch ch ch ch CHASE. bless you!

well i cant believe it but it is finally happening. Our friends and Neighbors and countrymen Justin and Amanda are in the Hospital working on Chase their little man. we were all kind of in this pregnant boat together so it will be cool to finally meet this little guy.
We have been doing everything in our power to persuade him out.
Jade cried all evening last night to get him here and wore herself out she went out at 10.30pm after i gave her a bath and slept until 6.30am.
We have eaten Pepperoni Pizza and yesterday evening with perfect fall south Texas weather we went on a little ride around their ranch looking at these animals more commonly seen in Africa riding on an old unimog Mercedes, stinking cool truck but bouncy. about half way through i looked back at Amanda and said maybe the bumps will help the little man come out.
