Elvis update
by Daine on Jan.13, 2010, under Austin, Friends, Funny, Meximelt, money
So this Elvis 75th birthday party me lady and I were to attend the other night was awesome. Christy Zimmerman Medina thought our last picture was sacrilegious. I don’t know what she has against Jesus but i think he’d be good looking if he looked like Jesus. in reality he was probably more brown.

Don’t ask her about it thought she was home by choice with a sick baby. She urged me to keep the date and take Curt with me. I did we had a blast. Subsequently I have been listening to Chulahoma,

the album of Junior Kimbrough covers by the Black Keys ever since. If you do not own this i would recommend that you run out and buy it before you buy the new what ever it is you all are listening to these days.
Also, I played Sweet Caroline” the Elvis version in the Buzz Sunday. All is well that ends well. And the night ended expensive but we were all well. Curt and I had a flat, got a cab home and got the funniest look ever when i said to a lady “we’re together” and she misunderstood. i meant same tab not like “together in the biblical sense.
past blast

Check out my last few songs of play list.
George Strait ‘if I know me’
Clay Walker ‘this woman this man’
Tracy Lawrence ‘if you loved me’
Diamond Rio ‘Love a little stronger’
Alan Jackson ‘tonight I climbed the wall’
Mark Collie ‘Something’s Gonna Change Her Mind’
Clint Black ‘burn one down’
Toby Keith ‘ wish I didn’t know now’
George Straight ‘ I can still make Cheyenne
Clint Black ‘loving blind’
Other stuff Sammy Kershaw, Neil McCoy Brooks and Dunn…
Then throw in P.M. Dawn’s ‘I’d die without you’ Random.
Wow, what a morning.
I hear these songs and I am instantly transported back in time say 1996-97. I miss Lara ‘the queen’ and ‘Shiny-white-Reeboks’ Josh, Lisa, my pretty girl friend with the cool dolphin sticker on her red Nissan, Billy bob Joe Jackson something something jr. aka Bill, Jake and his red truck,. You are all still my friends too, but you are all better looking now.
I remember fondly working at Pizza Hut, delivering people’s pizza before they could blink twice. I had the best car ever, my Nissan Sentra SE-R. Once I lent it to Bubba (Otis Lee for you outsiders) to take someone out to supper. I had to drive his old Chevy truck. I lost money that night I had to put gas in it twice. I remember thinking that the long horn sticker on the back made it look even cooler. Now that I live in Austin and everyone except me has a long horn on their car, not so much.
Funny thing is, as warm as my memories are of this period, I would not like to go back there and relive any of it.
Love you all

Ok folks i swear i am working on some real stuff and writing it down.

i am working on it and you’ll get it first here but i need to Send it to my Editor Friend who just had another beautiful baby. Congratulations Stephanie and Saki. Bottom line i have nothing but cool videos to show you.
I went to a David Bazan house show thanks to Eli and i loved it. and i loved it, like that needed to even be said.
It was awesome
no P/A just Dave and his guitar. My point is to make you all fans.
this is woman in me an old Dylan song, and the laughter in the middle is for the guy who requested the song that had driven from Dallas to Austin and gotten caught in the storm. You’ll see David non his head his direction. it was cool to say the least.
and then the end of the show. was funny and awkward.

Want to see something really cool?
Of course you do.
My friends James and Elizabeth do some amazing freeze frame action and they captured the sweetness that is my baby.
Let’s just say you live in Central Texas and you want some pictures don’t say I never told you who to go to. I mean just look at my girls wow so hot. And to think people I live with these ladies. See; I need a son to help bring the universe back into balance. Alas, it will stay lopsided for a while hopefully.

well i cant believe it but it is finally happening. Our friends and Neighbors and countrymen Justin and Amanda are in the Hospital working on Chase their little man. we were all kind of in this pregnant boat together so it will be cool to finally meet this little guy.
We have been doing everything in our power to persuade him out.
Jade cried all evening last night to get him here and wore herself out she went out at 10.30pm after i gave her a bath and slept until 6.30am.
We have eaten Pepperoni Pizza and yesterday evening with perfect fall south Texas weather we went on a little ride around their ranch looking at these animals more commonly seen in Africa riding on an old unimog Mercedes, stinking cool truck but bouncy. about half way through i looked back at Amanda and said maybe the bumps will help the little man come out.
uvula is the word of the day.

Man I am getting tired of politics and Banks failing and my stock being in the dump. I am ready for Obama to be President and end poverty and hunger in the world. I know that would make him the Anitchrist. With hunger and poverty gone though every one is happy and my stock will bounce to where I am not loosing my pants on it so I can sell and pay a little faith pledge I made in so very little faith.
So I have a love hate relationship with email right now.
I love getting stuff from loved ones but I only lie like It when I comes to me and not to over say 10 or 20 others. You know what I am talking about these political emails. I know I should care but like I said earlier I am over saturated and I no longer think it matters one way or the other. I have friends from both persuasions saying ooh this one is an important election.
I want to respond with “they are all important and nothing really ever changes.” Yeah one guys is better at this than the other and the other had more experience in like 4 extra thing and this year one is old and one is a few years older than my self, but I still don’t think that is going to matter long term.
So when I get these political emails I always say something mean in my head that changes them around and makes life more entertaining for me. This morning’s was a personal message from Dr James Dobson of Focus on the family fame. “This week, Dr. Dobson delivered an extremely important radio message in which he outlined the specific reasons why he now supports Senator John McCain in the upcoming presidential election.”
Then I insert number one
He has a hot wife and he is old so when he kicks the bucket I am going to the funeral with a bottle of bubbly on ice some redi-whip some strawberries and a Barry White CD.
Ok hope your weekend is off to a good start. my started with my uvula 3x its normal size.
paris in the spring, the ozarks in the fall

I am so ready to go home. I miss everything about fall today. I miss the cool rain and the colored leaves and old truck I used to call the beast and I miss going to papa Whites place to work on some ones car and the darkness that hides along the road just off into the bushes. I want Pumpkin or pecan pie and chili. We used to have this party out at the old Kraft home place farm and have hay rides and the works, impromptu skits and bonfires and marshmallows so charred they look like a lump of coal. I miss the feeling I get when the air is cold and I smell of wood smoke from a fire place. From my child hood bedroom window on the second floor there was the valley and the hills side opposite was awash in a warm tapestry of greens and browns and oranges and reds. I miss playing in the band at school and the hours and hours of practice. I am nostalgic for it all, and I am hoping it is all going to be waiting on me when I return there in a week or two. And then I hope some thing gets to me and I’ll be ready to come home again to Texas where the best thing I can think to say about my surroundings is that “it isn’t all THAT bad.” But there is nothing that makes this place nostalgic to me in any way. Except maybe the old whole foods down; town where REI and Anthropology are now. MexiMelt and I went there one thanksgiving day and got tortilla soup and a big deal of bread for a snack while the turkey was cooking. That was nice. And this is my background screen I look at most of the day.
and this is my little Mexican pepper!

man ok today is a hard one. i wanna teleport myself to Singapore and slap the spit out of my counterparts mouth. Smiles
So how Ya’ll doing? things in Austin are great what it is like the 38th day in a row over 100 degrees and near 80% or better humidity wise. Translation; it is hot.
So i went to Lamaze class and i seriously think it is a complete waste of 80 bucks. i mean that is the difference between the Apple Airport express and the Airport extreme the two of witch i am debating on. So if you have an opinion of the two let me hear it at the sound of the chime. *Chime*
I mean i like the extreme. It has a security slot! but that is not why I swear that is not why.
wow all that apple white. i wish it were all a pleasing brown.
oh speaking of which. I had to erase my white board at work that had possible names to pair with Jade Barraza – Branham, and now it just has my business up there. name suggestions to proceed Jade Barraza -Branham after the chime. *chime*
Speaking of which i like calling my ‘you know,’ business my ‘business’ like i am going to go into this door with the outline of a man on it to take care of my or some business. It makes it funnier to say ‘yeah oh i had to put some business on the white board.’ no i did not apply it from across the room with a nice arch.
Ok moving on i know i am 13 and you are still reading my ‘business’ see isn’t that fun?
and in closing id like to point out that i could loose massive amounts of weight if i could top drinking coke.
Coke, the red can kind is addictive a the other and i am an addict. No but i have like a Month and a few days before the peanut pops out of the sundry places, and i need to drop like oh 50 pounds. shoot for the stars and land on the moon. such defeatist sloganology but it is what we are going to go with here anyway. Cause if you aint first yer last’.
wow what a waste of time your thinking and i am sorry but that is what the lord gave me. David Tucker once said eat the meat and spit out the bones.
